Album Background

Louis Armstrong's career predated Ella Fitzgerald's by 15 years, with Armstrong serving as one of Fitzgerald's early musical idols. While they had performed together previously, their first recorded collaboration was a single 78 rpm disc in 1946 featuring 'The Frim Fram Sauce' and 'You Won't Be Satisfied'. The reunion orchestrated by Norman Granz in 1956 for Ella & Louis, followed by Ella & Louis Again and Porgy & Bess, cemented their legacy as a duo.
