Swapmeet - Mount Zero

Mount Zero, the debut LP from Australian four-piece Swapmeet, is a sweeping, guitar-driven journey that revitalizes the slowcore and alt-rock sounds of the 90s and early aughts. Following their 2024 EP Oxalis, this album arrives after the band signed with LA-based label Winspear and gained significant traction in Australia, earning accolades such as Best Release and Best Song ('Ceiling Fan') at the South Australian Music Awards, and the title of ‘Best Emerging Artist’ at SXSW Sydney.

Album Style: Mingling airy sweetness with jagged surrealism, Mount Zero explores themes of young adulthood, transforming regrets and uncertainties into burgeoning confidence. The album delves into first loves, heartbreaks, embarrassments, and disasters, reflecting the band's individual songwriting process that ultimately coalesces around common experiences. Swapmeet's signature approach of trading instruments and sharing production duties is evident, with layers of tracks meticulously refined to create a distinct sonic shape. The result is a powerful record that captures the intensity of personal change under pressure, serving as a tribute to paths not taken and an ode to the future.
