Blondshell - Violins [CD]

Violins is the highly anticipated third album from Blondshell, the project of Sabrina Teitelbaum. This 11-track release marks a significant evolution, moving beyond themes of difficult romantic relationships to explore deeper, braver territory, specifically how to balance the world's violence with its beauty. It is an album characterized by grandeur, drama, and tragedy, delivered through powerful musicality.

Teitelbaum digs into complex subjects including troubled friendships, religion, the body, and the unglamorous work of healing. The soundscape is built on virtuoso hooks, swelling guitars, and prominent lead lines. Listeners will find fresh musical touchstones referencing artists like Gang of Four, Teenage Fanclub, The Go-Betweens, and Sade, complemented by lyrical nods to Leonard Cohen and Pavement.

The album features the anthemic frenemy portrait found in 'Heart Has To Work So Hard,' the sunny, insomniac daydream of 'Lucky,' and the disarming closer, 'Fur Elise.' Violins captures the sound of an artist rendering art entirely on her own terms.
