Horace Ové’s groundbreaking 1975 masterpiece, Pressure, is heralded as the first full-length Black British film. This essential piece of British Cinema, restored in 4K, explores the anxieties of the emerging second-generation West Indian community in Britain, remaining highly relevant today with its focus on discrimination, police corruption, and employment issues.

The story centers on Tony, a bright school-leaver whose parents adhere to church conformity while his brother embraces Black Power militancy, leaving Tony torn between two worlds. The screenplay was written by director Horace Ové and Trinidadian author Sam Selvon.
