Description
Preacher’s Daughter is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter and record producer Ethel Cain, presented on two vinyl discs. It is a concept album for listeners drawn to narrative-led music and explores intense themes including family trauma and sexual violence.
Originally released in May 2022, the album centres on fictional characters and a story inspired by Cain’s personal life as the daughter of a deacon. Its sound blends Americana, folk, ethereal wave, goth-pop and dark ambient, with Cain producing the album and Matthew Tomasi assisting on two tracks.
Standout songs include the singles “Gibson Girl”, “Strangers” and “American Teenager”.
