Special Effects [Blu-ray]

Aspiring actress Andrea, played by Zoë Tamerlis Lund, flees her Dallas life for New York City with dreams of stardom. Director Christopher Neville (Eric Bogosian) offers her a role, but a violent encounter in his apartment results in Andrea's murder, captured on camera. When her estranged husband Keefe (Brad Rijn) arrives, he becomes the prime suspect. Neville, seeking an accomplice for his new film and a new leading lady who resembles Andrea, enlists Keefe's help in exchange for his freedom.

This grindhouse-friendly thriller, directed by Larry Cohen, draws parallels to classics like Vertigo and Peeping Tom, delivered with Cohen's signature low-budget New York style.
