Scottish multi-talented artificer Lomond Campbell's "LUP" emerged from a commission to build a custom tape-looper for Fife-based singer-songwriter King Creosote. The machine, named "LUP", uses 601mm tape loops allowing approximately 10 seconds of audio, resulting in a dynamic, minimalist, and introspective ambient experience. The album unfolds with glistening, meditative soundscapes in "We Go Slow", "Swam", and "Sister", transitions into pulsating electronics in "Otherly" and "Rad Brad Ivy", and concludes with eerie, atmospheric tracks like "WVN028", "Creosote", and "Songs Of The Wildbirds", evoking industrial urban landscapes accented by distant melodic birdsong. "LUP" bridges music, art, engineering, and imagination.
